Nepal Step Up T20 World Cup 2026 Preparations With Day 2 of Training Camp

Kathmandu — The camp announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is marking the first phase of Nepal’s build-up towards the global tournament, which is being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February–March 2026.
Blend of Experience and Emerging Talent
The training group is reflecting CAN’s intent to strike a balance between continuity and fresh competition. The core of Nepal’s national setup is remaining intact, with captain Rohit Paudel leading a group that is including Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Aarif Sheikh, Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, and Kushal Malla.
Their presence is ensuring leadership, stability, and international experience as Nepal is beginning to shape combinations for the long road ahead.

NPL Performers Are Being Rewarded
Several players whose stocks are rising during the recently concluded Nepal Premier League (NPL) are also being drafted into the camp, underlining CAN’s focus on form and performance under pressure.
Emerging mystery spinner Sher Malla, one of the standout bowlers of the NPL, is being included among the notable names. He is being joined by Binod Bhandari, Abinash Bohara, Pratish GC, Ishan Pandey, and Basir Ahamad, all of whom are impressing in the domestic T20 circuit and are now getting an opportunity to push their case at the national level.
Focus Is on Early Assessment
With the World Cup still more than a year away, this camp is being viewed as an evaluation phase rather than a final selection exercise. Coaches are being expected to closely monitor fitness levels, skill adaptability, and role clarity as training is intensifying in the coming days.
The sessions are being designed to establish early benchmarks, identify depth across departments, and gradually build competition within the squad.
